Life Before 8am {Sara}

“See and appreciate the significance in the mundane, in the everyday, in the fleeting. The big moments are important, but some of the best moments are the in-between ones.” – Karen Jacot Photography

Life before 8am is usually pretty quiet at our house. Most weekdays the boys get up around 7am, my husband Mark is out the door around 7:30am, then my boys (Grant and Everett) and I hang out in bed and watch a show (Wild Kratts is a big deal in our house right now) before I get my act together and start moving around (let’s be honest, they watch the show, I do the morning email/social media check on my phone). Saturdays, on the other hand, are a little more special (Daddy’s home!) and the Saturday before Valentine’s Day (when Karen did the photo shoot), well…

Life Before 8am : Sara | Denver Metro Moms BlogEverett checking out the “Okay to Wake” alarm clock. We recently took off one of the crib walls to turn their beds into toddler beds. The clock has been great at keeping them in their rooms until 7am.

Before8am-Sara-004 | Denver Metro Moms BlogWe got the boys some Star Wars books (we’re big Star Wars fans). Both of the boys have been really into the books and Everett was ready to start the day off right!

Before8am-Sara-003 | Denver Metro Moms BlogGrant was a little too interested in Karen though. Usually he would have also been cuddled up with Daddy, me, Dash, and “brubber.”

Before8am-Sara-006 | Denver Metro Moms BlogOh, Dash. Our first baby. It’s been 2 and half years since the boys have been around and I know he loves the boys (especially during meal time), but occasionally he’ll still look at me like, “when are you taking these two short people back so it can just be the three of us again?”

Before8am-Sara-005 | Denver Metro Moms BlogDefinitely one of Mark’s first priorities on a Saturday morning: Coffee.

Before8am-Sara-007 | Denver Metro Moms BlogLove this picture! I’ve always said that Mark and I make a great team and it was never more true then when we became parents of twins. He is such an amazing husband and loving father.

Before8am-Sara-008 | Denver Metro Moms BlogGrant and his trusty copilot, Chewbacca, having a cold beverage. Green milk instead of blue milk today.

Before8am-Sara-009 | Denver Metro Moms BlogWe decided to make pink, heart-shaped pancakes and, of course, I had my trusty sous chefs by my side!

Before8am-Sara-010 | Denver Metro Moms BlogMixing in the red food coloring…

Before8am-Sara-011 | Denver Metro Moms BlogI’d not yet used the heart-shaped molds, so I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but they worked pretty well!

Before8am-Sara-013 | Denver Metro Moms BlogMid-morning, coffee-breath smooches are the best!

Before8am-Sara-014 | Denver Metro Moms BlogYumm!

Before8am-Sara-015 | Denver Metro Moms Blog“Daddy, budder, too, pweease.”

Before8am-Sara-024 | Denver Metro Moms BlogMy boys are my miracle IVF babies and it was on Valentine’s day 3-years-ago that our journey to finally become parents began by transferring these two beautiful embryos. This holiday has forever become one of my favorites!

Before8am-Sara-016 | Denver Metro Moms BlogGrandma had come for a visit the day before and had brought us some really fun, heart-shaped balloons! The boys love them!

Before8am-Sara-018 | Denver Metro Moms Blog“Momma, chase me?” is a phrase I hear all day, everyday lately.

Before8am-Sara-019 | Denver Metro Moms Blog“Good job, mama. Good laundry.” Incidentally, one of the boy’s sweatshirts that I had washed in this load got a ketchup stain just hours later… the fun never ends.

Before8am-Sara-020 | Denver Metro Moms BlogDownstairs playroom fun!

Before 8am: Sara | Denver Metro Moms Blog“Kiss eet.” Grant somehow hurt his foot and it’s never “better” until it gets a kiss from Mama.

Before 8am: Sara | Denver Metro Moms BlogGrant picked out the Gryffindor shirt to wear. That’s my boy!

Before 8am: Sara | Denver Metro Moms BlogAnother chase, this time to put on shoes and socks. Caughtya!

Sara is a Denver native – a proud graduate of East High and UC Denver. She used to be in the IT biz, but retired from the office job to stay home when her twin boys were born. In addition to her boys, she just had a baby girl and is surprised about how much easier and harder it is the second (third?) time around, but is doing her best to keep it all together. She is married to Mark – they’ve shared 7 years of wedded bliss but compliment each other so well, you’d think it was many more! Sara has an affinity for the color green, loves music, loves food, loves her fur baby Dash, is great at styling hair with BBQ sauce, and would be a very formidable trivia opponent!
