It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Temperatures will soon begin to drop, leaves start to hint at a color change, and my television will be occupied every Thursday through Monday starting now through January.
That’s right wives of football fanatics, football season is here!
Growing up in Texas, it is safe to say that football is life. There are season tickets to high school football games – and wait lists! I myself didn’t have a choice but to love football, and I can talk to you pretty knowledgeably about positions, coaches, and teams. But yet, sometimes I wish my husband wouldn’t sacrifice every day of the weekend to watch his football favorites, and it would be great if he could do more around the house come September.
Here are my TOP THREE TIPS on surviving football season:
ONE: Work it to your advantage sisters. Ladies, look at this as an opportunity. A little I’ll scratch your back, you scratch mine. He wants to spend the morning in front of the TV? Fine. You will be spending the afternoon shopping and meeting your friends for dinner. It’s a win, win.
TWO: Embrace football. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. The reality is your man will be watching a lot of football. So have fun with it! Get a team shirt and wear it on Game Day. Dress up your kids! Decorate a with team colors. If you’re crafty, how cute would this DIY football banner look, hanging over the mantle?
THREE: Throw a party! I love any excuse to throw a party. Football games are a great opportunity to get together with your friends and family, have a playdate for the kids, and veg out on appetizers and yummy food. My personal pre-made favorite? Jalapeno-Artichoke Dip from Costco. Any grocer’s freezer aisle will be packed full of yummy, bite-size apps you can quickly throw into the oven. If you are feeling motivated to cook, here are three easy and delicious appetizers you can make at home:
Loaded Nachos via Damn Delicious
Jalapeno Ranch Dip via Simply Shellie
Mexican Pinwheels via Top Appetizer Recipes
Whoever you root for this football season, may the best team win! And, may you have snagged a few ideas on how to celebrate the season.
