Skip the Line with Sam’s Club Scan & Go

I woke up yesterday and started to get the kids ready for the day, when it happened. After asking the boys to get their clothes on for what must have been the fiftieth time, I was exhausted and it wasn’t even 9am. I pulled the box of Pampers out of the closet to refill the changing table and diaper bag, only to find the box nearly empty. At our house, when we’re out of Pampers Swaddlers, we’ve got a problem — they’re the softest and really keep our baby leak free — which is HUGE for this busy mama (can I get an amen?!)

I quickly assessed our options, then I cringed. Anxiety started to set in as I looked at my crazy kiddos and realized I was going to have to manage an adventure with all three to Sam’s Club. Now, Sam’s Club is a fabulous place to shop, but any shopping excursion with my whole crew can be a little intimidating, even on my bravest days. Since the kids had already worn me out, I wished for a way to simplify.

But then I remembered an email I’d received recently from Sam’s Club, introducing their new Scan & Go app

If you haven’t heard of the Scan & Go app, get excited – it makes shopping so easy! Here’s what you have to do:

1. Download the Scan & Go app for Apple or Android
2. Scan your favorite products with your phone’s camera when placing them in your cart
3. Check out through the app – it saves your Sam’s membership and preferred payment method for you
4. Skip the checkout line and show your mobile receipt at the door
5. Get back to all the other things you’d rather be doing!

Scan & Go sounded too good to be true, so I had to check it out

I downloaded the app and logged in before I left the house. When I got to Sam’s Club, got the baby and one of the boys loaded into the double seat shopping cart (probably one of my favorite things about Sam’s Club!  Why can’t all shopping carts have at least two seats?), the app recognized my location and was ready to go! I found my first item, clicked the scan button, and found the bar code.  Within a split second it had scanned and added the item to my list. It was fast! My boys thought it was awesome and wanted to take turns scanning items. One of my boys was having so much fun, he scanned a couple of other items while I was loading what we actually needed in the cart. Luckily the app makes it easy to delete items “accidentally” added to the list. (Sorry kiddo, while they look quite comfortable, we do not need two new mattresses today, but thanks for looking out.)

The situation hadn’t entered “dire” for just the Pampers, I was also low on other basics that a mom of three can’t survive without (paper towels, toothpaste, razors, chocolate!). After grabbing some necessities and food for school lunches, we were ready to check out. Thankfully, checking out did NOT involve waiting in any kind of line! All I had to do was add my preferred payment method in my Scan & Go app, and we were done!

Nope!

I walked past all of the people waiting in line, showed the worker at the front my phone, he did a quick check of my shopping cart, and we were on our way home.

For me, the Scan & Go app from Sam’s Club is a game changer. I can’t believe how easy it really was, and it kept my kids entertained! I would definitely recommend this to my friends, because who has time to wait in line?!

We're so thankful that our sponsors at Sam's Club asked us to review their Scan & Go app! We love the time it saves now that we can head to Sam's Club where we scan, go, and get on with our lives!

Sara is a Denver native – a proud graduate of East High and UC Denver. She used to be in the IT biz, but retired from the office job to stay home when her twin boys were born. In addition to her boys, she just had a baby girl and is surprised about how much easier and harder it is the second (third?) time around, but is doing her best to keep it all together. She is married to Mark – they’ve shared 7 years of wedded bliss but compliment each other so well, you’d think it was many more! Sara has an affinity for the color green, loves music, loves food, loves her fur baby Dash, is great at styling hair with BBQ sauce, and would be a very formidable trivia opponent!
