“See and appreciate the significance in the mundane, in the everyday, in the fleeting. The big moments are important, but some of the best moments are the in-between ones.” – Karen Jacot Photography
Life before 8am is usually pretty quiet at our house. Most weekdays the boys get up around 7am, my husband Mark is out the door around 7:30am, then my boys (Grant and Everett) and I hang out in bed and watch a show (Wild Kratts is a big deal in our house right now) before I get my act together and start moving around (let’s be honest, they watch the show, I do the morning email/social media check on my phone). Saturdays, on the other hand, are a little more special (Daddy’s home!) and the Saturday before Valentine’s Day (when Karen did the photo shoot), well…
Everett checking out the “Okay to Wake” alarm clock. We recently took off one of the crib walls to turn their beds into toddler beds. The clock has been great at keeping them in their rooms until 7am.
We got the boys some Star Wars books (we’re big Star Wars fans). Both of the boys have been really into the books and Everett was ready to start the day off right!
Grant was a little too interested in Karen though. Usually he would have also been cuddled up with Daddy, me, Dash, and “brubber.”
Oh, Dash. Our first baby. It’s been 2 and half years since the boys have been around and I know he loves the boys (especially during meal time), but occasionally he’ll still look at me like, “when are you taking these two short people back so it can just be the three of us again?”
Definitely one of Mark’s first priorities on a Saturday morning: Coffee.
Love this picture! I’ve always said that Mark and I make a great team and it was never more true then when we became parents of twins. He is such an amazing husband and loving father.
Grant and his trusty copilot, Chewbacca, having a cold beverage. Green milk instead of blue milk today.
We decided to make pink, heart-shaped pancakes and, of course, I had my trusty sous chefs by my side!
Mixing in the red food coloring…
I’d not yet used the heart-shaped molds, so I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but they worked pretty well!
Mid-morning, coffee-breath smooches are the best!
“Daddy, budder, too, pweease.”
My boys are my miracle IVF babies and it was on Valentine’s day 3-years-ago that our journey to finally become parents began by transferring these two beautiful embryos. This holiday has forever become one of my favorites!
Grandma had come for a visit the day before and had brought us some really fun, heart-shaped balloons! The boys love them!
“Momma, chase me?” is a phrase I hear all day, everyday lately.
“Good job, mama. Good laundry.” Incidentally, one of the boy’s sweatshirts that I had washed in this load got a ketchup stain just hours later… the fun never ends.
“Kiss eet.” Grant somehow hurt his foot and it’s never “better” until it gets a kiss from Mama.
Grant picked out the Gryffindor shirt to wear. That’s my boy!
Another chase, this time to put on shoes and socks. Caughtya!
